I have an internet box from XiaoMi at home as well as some chinese online video apps on my smartphone that I subscribed. Since June 2019, the box and apps are blocked by Cablecom WiFi. If I switched moible data or used my company wifi connection to test, they work fine. I called UPC technical support and didn't receive any feedback. The chinese new portal news.sina.com.cn was also blocked at our mobile device at home's wifi environment. Anyone has some idea what will be potential issue? I am not sure if UPC Cablecom intends to block these.
@tya05_ ,I see that you have switched off our WLAN on the Connect Box and also connected a switch or your own router. Can you please switch off your router and switch on our WLAN, then do another test? We do not block any pages on the Internet unless we are requested to do so by the Swiss authorities.
I had similar issues with my Xiaomi phone. One reason is that the peering from UPC Switzerland to Singapore is currently extremely horrible. One testsite (Amazon Singapore, where the Xiaomi Cloud is hosted) had exactly 30 Hops in a traceroute. The problem is, 30 is the maximum (default setting in most operating systems), one more hop and the IP/site is unreachable. The major source for this problem (bad peerings) was/is situated somewhere in Asia and out of reach for UPC sadly.
In my tests Swisscom had around 2 hops less which just could make the difference between broken and working.
Not sure if you are hitting this problem though, but it might be possible.
