@akeene , Welcome to the community!
Please let us know how you do the speed test exactly. What kind of equipment measures the speed. How is everything connected on your computer and modem? Without further information, we and the community users cannot help you.
I have a UPC connect box in my living room connected to a horizon box, telephone and apple TV.
I also have a Synology home server.
My UPC abo has 500 mbs download.
I tested the speed my mac in my bureau with an app called SpeedTest and another called
Both showed a speed of around 70 mbs.
So why the discrepancy. 500 vs 70 mbs is a big difference....
@akeene , We checked your signal values and they are ok.
Can you please answer the following questions:
- what kind of computer do you have that does the speed test? ( Brand / (Model)
- Do you have a Cat5e LAN cable in use?
- Is the computer plugged in directly from the modem via LAN cable? (Without Powerlines, switches, etc. in between)
I have an iMac 14.3 running Catalina 10.15.3
The mac is directly connected to my Apple Time Capsule via ethernet cable
My Apple TV is connected to my router downstairs with an ethernet cable as well.
I am not sure what category the cables are.
The only connection between my Mac and UPC is via WiFi
@akeene , For the test it is important that your Mac is connected directly to the Connect Modem via LAN cable. This allows us to test if other devices are not set up correctly, or to slow down the speed.
