Terrible call quality

I have today tried calling the 0800 100111 support number, but the call quality so so awful I could only get a small fraction of what the agent spoke. I retried a new call, but the result was similar, and in both cases the phone was unusable.

I'm also frequently getting terrible international lines with long periods of silence and fading in and out.

Is there any way to improve this please?

This is for the landline, so changing the SIM is not an option. However, M Wecker has been in contact and will arrange for a replacement modem to be sent out, and we will see if that improves the usability

@benhines , Have you ever tried plugging in another fixline phone? If possible one without wireless? Do you have the same problems?

I did use a known good wired phone, will see what a replacement box does

Sorry for the very late response. A new router does seem to have made the problem go away
