Horizon Box with WLAN Router

Dear All

I have a Horizon Box and am now installing LAN/RJ45 connections in/to all rooms.

My wish would be to connect the Horion Box (which is standing in a corner in the living room where I have a TV and a Dect-Phone connected) via a RJ45 cable to a WLAN Router in the corridor.

From that place in the corridor, I have a set of RJ45 connectors forming one end of the LAN connections to the other rooms (office and bedrooms).

The idea is to end up with working LAN connections to these rooms by using the WLAN Router on one hand as a Hub/Switch for the LAN network and on the other hand as the one in charge for the WiFi network (instead of the Horizon box which is badly placed when it comes to WiFi).

I guess this should be possible to hook up? but I am not sure what kind of configurations would be needed on the Horizon as well as the WLAN Router side to make this scenario working?

Many thanks in advance and best regards, Ueli

Re: Horizon Box with WLAN Router

Its not that complex. The Horizon should stay as Internet access (Router), no configuration needed. Then you use the RJ45 cable to connect the Horizon to the WLAN accesspoint (not a router, but most routers can be configured as accesspoints) in the corridor. If this accesspoint has more the one RJ45 port, you can connect the additional rooms directly to the accesspoint. If not, so you would need a switch additionally.

Horizon - Switch - Switch to accesspoint, room1, room2
