WIFI Internet speed with Connect Box less than 10Mb/s

I have Internet 100 - (Down 100 Mbits/s, Up 10 Mbits/s).

The fact is that with the last wifi router (Technicolor TC7200U) my wifi speed was more than acceptable.

But once I got Connect Box DOCSIS 3.0 and I replaced it, my wifi speed deaded.

 

I dind't change anything in my PC. I checked it with ethernet cable and got 100Mb/s 10Mb/s.
But I need to connect it via WIFI.

 

I have windows 7. The signal quality between the router and my PC is Excelent (the 5 bars are active)

 

Test from cnlab:
Download 8.8 Mbit/s (fastest Second)
8.8 Mbit/s (5s Average)
Upload 10.7 Mbit/s (fastest Second)
10.6 Mbit/s (5s Average)
Roundtrip < 24 ms (fastest Response Time, TCP)
24 ms (average Response Time, TCP)

Any advise please?

You may change some settings in the admin part of the Connect Box. Do you want the steps to change some settings and see if the wireless speed increases?

Hi @la_joya,

 

In order to change the settings, you have to use a computer which is connected to the modem. Then open a web browser. In the address or location field, type 192.168.0.1 and press ENTER to display the login window. You choose the language ect... Then, to login into the Connect Box you have to type the password which is located in the product label on the bottom of the modem. At this stage, you have succeed to login. Here is the part which is important. You go on Advanced Settings  > Wireless > Wireless signal.

Lots of options are given to you. The ones I advice are the following:

  • Enable 2.4GHz and 5GHz
  • Wireless mode: 802.11b/g/n mixed for 2.4GHz and 802.11b/g/ac mixed for 5GHz
  • Channel: auto for 2.4GHz and 5GHz
  • Channel width: 40Mhz for 2.4GHz and 80MHz for 5GHz

First of all, thank you very much for your support.

 

I faced some issues to apply the config you adviced me. I found the below mismatches:

 

In frequency 2.4GHz -> Channel width -> I have 2 options: 20MHz or 20/40MHZ. But not 40MHz as a unique option. Should I select 20/40?

 

In frequence 5GHz -> Wireless mode -> I don't have 802.11b/g/ac, the options are 802.11a/n/ac mixed, 802.11n/ac mixed and 802.11ac, which one should I select?

 

In frequency 5GHz -> Channel width -> I don't have 80MHz only. I have 20MHz, or 20/40MHz, or 20/40/80MHz. Which one should I select?

Take the option 20/40MHz
