I have written on several occasions about our direct debit suddenly stopping which results in a late payment charge. After the last occasion we decided to pay our bills manually for many monhts but decided once more to try the direct debit system.
As before, it has been working well for a short while - but now again we have received a bill in thepost to say that we have not paid our April bill and therefore have been charged 25CHF for late payment.
Can you please check again why our direct debit has stopped again wihtout notice? We have never had problems like this with Direct Debits we have with other companies - so why does it keep happening with UPC??
I would ask your bank as well, in case the problem was their end.
Assuming you set up the DD correctly (no expiry date, no problem with funds in your account) then either your bank or UPC should take responsibility for the error and refund your late payment fee. Who knows, they may not know what happened and both give you Fr.25
Interestingly, the exact same thing has happened to us. I just checked our account and it's still set up to pay the bill automatically but it doesn't seem that it's being asked. Unfortunately, the results in the bitchy "miss payment" when we never received a bill or had a chance to pay.
